History
Evangelical Quarterly offers scholars and pastors the opportunity to learn from and dialogue with each other about the latest issues influencing and shaping the evangelical world. We strive to maintain the highest quality of scholarship while also remaining close to pulse of the impact of evangelicalism on society and culture. Each issue highlights articles in the fields of Biblical studies and Theology that are selected for their importance and relevance for evangelicals in the academy and the church. Each issue also includes reviews by leading evangelical scholars of the most pertinent theological literature.
Editorial Staff
Evangelical Quarterly has three primary editors and a number of consulting editors who filter submissions to provide the high impact periodicals packed with timely, insightful contributions from well known and aspiring writers and theologians.
Biblical articles are reviewed and edited by Professor I. Howard, BA (Cambridge), MA, BD, PhD (Aberdeen), DD (Asbury); Emeritus Professor of New Testament Exegesis and Honorary; Research Professor; Former Chair of the Tyndale Fellowship for Biblical and Theological Research; President of the British New Testament Society and Chair of the Fellowship of European Evangelical Theologians.
Dr. Marshall’s main interest in research has been on the Pastoral Epistles, Luke-Acts and aspects of New Testament theology, which has lead the publication of numerous books, articles and essays. These include “Beyond the Bible: Moving from Scripture to Theology” (with essays by Kevin J. Vanhoozer and Stanley E. Porter - Grand Rapids: Baker Academic, 2004) and “New Testament Theology: Many Witnesses, One Gospel” (Downers Grove/Leicester: Inter-Varsity Press, 2004). Currently, Dr. Marshall is collaborating with Stephen N. Williams in a theological commentary on Romans, followed by a commentary on the use of the Old Testament in the New Testament. An internationally renowned teacher, he has taught modules at the International Baptist Theological Seminary, Prague; the Evangelical Theological Seminary in Cairo; Donetsk Christian University, Ukraine; and Fuller Theological Seminary Northern Campus.
Theological articles are reviewed and edited by Dr John-Paul Lotz, Senior Pastor of Christ Chapel in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Prior to moving to the U.S., Dr. Lotz taught Theology at the London School of Theology, and pastored a local Baptist Church in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire. He was born and raised in Zurich, Switzerland, to parents who were missionaries in eastern Europe during the 70’s. He grew up outside of Washington DC, in Virginia and studied history at the University of Richmond, theology at Regent College in Vancouver, BC and completed his ministerial studies at Beeson Divinity School in Birmingham, AL. He went on to do his PhD in Patristics at Cambridge University in the UK, and has studied further at universities in Germany, Austria and England.
